With the official designation of Fluvial Beach of Castanheira, the Blue Lake is one of the biggest attractions of the municipality of Ferreira do Zêzere. Its crystal clear water and the floating pool built, make it one of the biggest attractions in the country. The ease of finding accommodations near by and the opportunity to practice nautical sports are other reasons that have made this place a tourist point of reference for the Portuguese and for foreigners. One of the most practiced sports in this place is wakeboarding, having already been the venue of the world wakeboarding championship.
